Analytical R&D, Research Chemist

Job Description

Edenbridge Pharmaceuticals is seeking a chemist to join the company in its analytical R&D laboratory in Whippany, NJ. This is an opportunity for an individual to join an emerging specialty pharmaceutical company and work closely with formulation scientists on development projects. The successful candidate will:

  • Set-up new analytical instrumentation in the R&D laboratory.
  • Conduct analytical testing related to the release of API drug substances & excipients and development of finished dosage forms.
  • Perform investigational analysis on commercial pharmaceutical products.
  • Establish, develop, and/or optimize analytical methodology to test finished dosage R&D drug products across multiple dosage forms.
  • Manage the transfer of analytical methods from the R&D lab to third party CMOs.
  • Draft analytical development reports and other technical documents related to analytical and formulation development activities.
  • Provide analytical support and troubleshooting for both current commercial and R&D test methods.
  • Use scientific literature to develop, justify and/or investigate analytical methodologies.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years, or Master's degree with 3+ years, of relevant pharmaceutical industry analytical chemistry experience. Experience with drug product testing is required.
  • Must be comfortable working within the lab setting and knowledgeable about the requirements of maintaining an analytical laboratory.
  • Self-starter who can be effective with minimal supervision.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in the analysis of drug products, methods development, methods modification and stability testing.
  • Key expertise must fall in the areas of HPLC and GC with knowledge of HPLC-MS, GC-MS and interpretive spectroscopic skills, including MS and NMR.
  • Strong instrumentation skills necessary to conduct analytical instrument installation, maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of the company.
  • Writing skills consistent with the ability to prepare concise, timely and accurate reports.
  • Experience with US FDA regulated pharmaceutical product development.
